The play, scripted and produced by KAMITSUBAKI's chief producer PIEDPIPER, is a reconstruction of an unfinished story from virtual singer Kaf's 1st ONE-MAN LIVE "Inexplicable" in 2019. It is a 'new world' sci-fi youth drama that intertwines the past, present, and future.
"Otogi Banashi" is planned to be completed in two parts, with the current revealed work being the first part, titled "Otogi Banashi." This project will evolve gradually over different tour stops, with each iteration making subtle updates to the content. The name "Otogi Banashi," which means traditional Japanese fairy tales or folk stories in Japanese, symbolizes how the story develops and changes over time, offering a virtual stage for timeless narratives.
The main cast of "Otogi Banashi" comes from KAMITSUBAKI's famous VSinger group V.W.P, including Kaf, Rime, Harusaruhi, Isekaijoucho, and Kouki. Additionally, the well-known voice actor Yuki Kaji, who played Eren Yeager in "Attack on Titan," will also participate, sparking curiosity about what this collaboration will ignite, potentially rivaling the intensity of "Attack on Titan Eren."

The story revolves around Shin Makimura, a typical high school student living in a town. He leads an ordinary life with his classmates Chiaki and Sekai (played by Isekaijoucho) until his father mysteriously disappears, causing cracks in his everyday life. At the same time, Shin finds himself targeted by dark forces. During a sudden attack, a girl named Kaf (played by Kaf), who claims to be from the future, appears and saves Shin.
Kaf tells Shin that she is from the future and asks for his help in finding her companions Rime (played by Rime) and Makoto (played by Kouki). As they begin their search, an assassin named Trumps (played by Harusaruhi) suddenly appears to block their path. Kaf, Trumps, and Rime possess superhuman abilities stemming from the future they are trying to change. As the world begins to collapse, Shin senses the start of an unforgettable summer.
Although it is a virtual stage play, this performance is exclusively available in a physical theater and does not offer online streaming tickets. This not only adds a layer of mystique to the production but also highlights the charm of "face-to-face" storytelling. Just as folk stories are best conveyed in intimate gatherings, "Otogi Banashi" aims to lead the audience into a new world beyond the traditional theater framework, experiencing the primal allure and power of storytelling through physical interaction.
