VShojo and Game Studio Announce Collaboration for VTuber PvE Game

VIVE Team • April 1, 2024

1-minute read

Imagine the thrill of your favorite VTuber coming to life as a character in a video game! Recently, the game developer Hidden Leaf Games and the prominent American VTuber agency VShojo have officially announced their plans to collaborate on a VTuber-themed game. This announcement has sparked an enthusiastic response from countless fans.

Hidden Leaf Games, an independent game studio founded in 2019 by David Li and Bao Lam, boasts a team of seasoned developers from Riot Games and PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds, including Steve “Guinsoo” Feak, a game designer known for creating many iconic characters in League of Legends. Their first multiplayer online battle arena (MOBA) game, "Fangs," didn't achieve the success they had hoped for, but it paved the way for their subsequent venture into collaborations with VTubers.

Details about this new vtuber game are still scarce, but what we do know is that it will be a PvE cooperative monster-slaying game. Players will have the opportunity to embody their most cherished VTubers from VShojo and embark on monster-slaying adventures and fight side-by-side with other players and even VShojo members. Bao Lam has revealed that the game will feature not only the likenesses of VTuber characters but also items and weapons closely related to each VTuber's persona. However, what's particularly intriguing is that Hidden Leaf Games mentioned in an interview that they are moving away from the blind pursuit of the free-to-play (F2P) business model. They are prioritizing innovative gameplay and will monetization of user-generated virtual goods, allowing players to profit from their creations.

Despite the challenges, VShojo's CEO Justin Ignacio is filled with anticipation for this collaboration: "The partnership between Hidden Leaf Games and VShojo presents a precious opportunity for creators. VTubers have immense potential to express themselves, so it's exhilarating for both VShojo and our fan community to be involved in creating a game with our creators."

This collaboration not only introduces new possibilities in the realms of VTubing and game development but also offers fans a novel way to interact with their beloved VTubers. As the game's development progresses, we look forward to uncovering more details and seeing how it will forge an even stronger bond between VTubers and their fans.
