This is a guest blog post by Dave Haynes, Director of Vive X Europe
Vive X is our $100m global VR/AR accelerator, with a mission to help cultivate, foster and grow the global VR ecosystem by supporting startups and providing them with education, investment and mentorship.
The exciting news is that we’ve recently expanded the Vive X program by opening our sixth location in London. This means that European startups can now join other global applicants hoping to join Vive X. Just make sure to do so before the 30th June. To celebrate we held our first Vive X meet-up in London and are planning more.
London will act as a hub for startups across Europe (not just UK), a region that we believe has a huge amount of talent and several clusters of innovation around the core technologies of interest to Vive X (ie. VR, AR, AI, 5G). We’re especially interested in hearing from companies working on B2B and Enterprise applications, a market that we believe European startups are especially well placed to address. Of course, given the region’s startup track record in media (Spotify), fashion (Farfetch), gaming (Rovio), e-commerce (Deliveroo) we expect to see a broad range of startups apply.
There are many thriving hubs of activity in the European AR/VR ecosystem, so to meet as many promising founders and entrepreneurs as possible we’ll be taking to the road and travelling to key cities. We started with an excellent meetup in London last week and we’ll then move on to visit Helsinki, Paris, Madrid, Berlin and Amsterdam.
To do this we’ve partnered with a number of organizations who are already doing fantastic work to support and build local communities in AR/VR. These include Realities Centre (UK), Le Pavillon (FR), Oarsis (ES), VR Business Club (DE) and XRBase (NL).
On top of this Vive X will be formally supporting other leading European-based programs working with early-stage AR/VR startups. This includes Augmentor (based in London) and Nordic VR Startups (based in Helsinki). Vive will provide mentorship and actively seek startups that may be suitable for the Vive X program.
So if you’re a founder and are interested in both investment and support then please come along to one of our meetups and consider applying to Vive X.
