At HTC VIVE, we believe in the power of open source. By sharing our tools and projects with the developer community, we can drive innovation, foster collaboration, and accelerate the development of cutting-edge technology. We are excited to announce the release of our latest multiplayer mixed reality application, now open-sourced and ready for developers to explore and expand upon.
Bouncing Duel MR
This new project leverages the full potential of the VIVE XR Elite, utilizing the powerful features of our WaveSDK. Designed to provide an immersive, fun, and collaborative experience, this application combines the real world with virtual elements in a seamless and engaging way . Here’s a closer look at some of the standout features:
The VIVE XR Elite offers an unparalleled mixed reality experience with its advanced Passthrough technology. This feature allows users to see the real world around them while simultaneously interacting with virtual objects and environments. The application uses this technology to create a dynamic blend of physical and digital worlds, making the experience both intuitive and immersive. “Scene Perception” allows us to place digital colliders in our physical space so that the digital objects can collide and bounce around our physical environment, to give a true feeling of Digital/Physical cohesion.
Spatial Anchors
Spatial Anchors are a key feature in our application, enabling precise placement and tracking of virtual objects in the real world. This technology ensures that virtual elements remain in place, providing a consistent and reliable experience. Whether you're collaborating on a project, playing a game, or exploring a virtual environment, Spatial Anchors enhance the realism and interactivity of the mixed reality experience.
Empowering Developers with WaveSDK
The WaveSDK is at the heart of our open-source project, providing developers with the tools they need to create rich and immersive mixed reality experiences. By using the WaveSDK in Unity, Unreal or Natively, developers can easily integrate features like Mixed Reality Passthrough, Spatial Anchors and Hand/Eye Tracking into their applications, unlocking new possibilities for innovation and creativity.
Why Open Source?
Open sourcing of many of our internal projects is a testament to our commitment to the developer community. By making our projects available to everyone, we aim to:
Encourage Collaboration: We believe that the best ideas come from working together. By sharing our projects, we invite developers to contribute their ideas, improvements, and innovations.
Drive Innovation: Open source projects often serve as the foundation for groundbreaking developments. We hope that our applications will inspire developers to push the boundaries of what’s possible in virtual and mixed reality.
Enhance Accessibility: By providing access to our tools and technology, we aim to make it easier for developers of all skill levels to create amazing virtual and mixed reality experiences.
