As 2023 is in full swing, we want to take a moment to thank the VR community for supporting HTC VIVE all throughout the past year. In 2022, we once again used our immersive technology to enable our creativity and amplify our humanity, and we couldn’t have done it without you. Join us in looking back at our journey through 2022 with these HTC VIVE highlights from last year:
Redefining portable VR: VIVE Flow’s new controller
2021 ended with the ceremonious launch of HTC VIVE’s first-ever VR glasses: VIVE Flow! Unmatched in form factor, VIVE Flow offered a level of portability never seen in the VR world. It proved perfect for travel and even promoted mental well-being with VR apps like TRIPP. In July 2022, we announced the VIVE Flow with Controller bundle, a solution for those who would rather enjoy VR with a remote rather than with their smartphone. VIVE Flow continued to maximize its versatility, giving users more options while showing the industry just how compact VR could get.
Taking AIO VR to the next level: new VIVE Focus 3 trackers
VIVE Focus 3 was HTC VIVE’s highlight enterprise HMD of 2021, and won the accolades to prove it. The device stood out in 2022 as one of the most powerful all-in-one VR headsets available, with real-world use cases across a variety of industries, including education, health, and defense. Last year, VIVE Focus 3 saw some major upgrades in empathetic communication thanks to add-on trackers that could precisely read the wearer’s wrist, eye, and face movements. These new accessories helped maximize Focus 3’s efficiency, making it the best enterprise VR solution to date.
Releasing two powerful new products: VIVE Mars and Reign Core
2022 was about more than just VR. We offered major innovations with Reign Core, a portable private 5G network, and VIVE Mars, a virtual production device. Reign Core introduced enterprises to an easy-to-set-up communications solution that could turn factories and warehouses into highly efficient smart facilities. VIVE Mars, meanwhile, helped in the creation of immersive set-pieces for filmmakers and enthusiasts alike, allowing for beautiful video productions at a fraction of the typical cost and with incredible portability.
Building the metaverse with you: the launch of VIVERSE
In February 2022, we announced our own vision for the metaverse: VIVERSE, an interoperable ecosystem created by and made for anyone and everyone. Working towards that vision has been quite a journey. VIVERSE began as a casual virtual space for exploring digital collections and exclusive exhibitions like our Birdie Wing Metaverse Museum . Over the year, we added more and more features to VIVERSE, like VRM avatar compatibility, free metaverse worlds (Worlds!), and thousands of 3D objects from Sketchfab to decorate those Worlds with. Of course, we were also empowered by the creativity of our community! And as far as VIVERSE has come, we are still very excited to show you how far it will go in 2023.
