Announcing Playing with Fire: An Immersive Odyssey with Yuja Wang

VIVE Team • July 23, 2025

5 minutes read

This fall, our arts and culture division, VIVE Arts, joins forces with Atlas V, Lightroom, and the Musée de la musique – Philharmonie de Paris to launch Playing with Fire: An Immersive Odyssey with Yuja Wang - a captivating multi-user XR experience featuring one of the world’s most celebrated pianists, Yuja Wang.

Opening on 14 November 2025 in Paris, this groundbreaking installation invites audiences into an intimate, multi-sensory encounter with music, memory, and imagination. Blending cinematic visuals, spatialized sound, and immersive storytelling, Playing with Fire offers a rare perspective on the emotion and artistry behind Yuja Wang’s performance. Participants are not just observers - they are drawn into the expressive world of the pianist, as if stepping inside the music itself.

Directed by Cannes Immersive winner Pierre-Alain Giraud, with visuals by Icelandic artist Gabríela Friðriksdóttir and sound design by Nicolas Becker, the experience takes visitors behind the scenes and into a virtual rehearsal with Yuja. From her creative process to her emotional presence at the piano, the experience unfolds as both a visual journey and an intimate portrait of one of classical music’s most dynamic talents.

Playing with Fire is powered by VIVE Focus Vision and our Location-Based Software Suite, enabling seamless, untethered exploration of a shared virtual space. A Steinway Spirio concert grand piano acts as a real-time bridge between the physical and virtual, syncing live playback with volumetric video and holographic performance. As participants move freely through the installation, the experience shifts fluidly between mixed and virtual reality - responding dynamically to their position and presence

The installation runs from 14 November 2025 to 4 May 2026 at the Musée de la musique – Philharmonie de Paris. Stay tuned for further announcements as we move closer to launch.
