Britpop Legends Oasis Return with a Digital Twin of Their Iconic Album Cover

VIVE POST-WAVE Team • Nov. 12, 2024

2-minute read

"Want to come over and listen to vinyl?" I wonder if this pickup line from online dating is still popular, but the house on the cover of Oasis's debut album Definitely Maybe is probably a place no Britpop fan could say no to. Recently, the Gallagher brothers have finally reconciled, coinciding with the 30th anniversary of Definitely Maybe (ah, the golden era of 1994... truly aging us), and due to Oasis's return for a world tour, they've teamed up with Sony's Metaverse App FavoriteSpace to turn the living room photographed by Michael Spencer Jones into an "immersive photo checkpoint." What a cool idea!

The album cover of Definitely Maybe features the home of Oasis guitarist Paul "Bonehead" Arthurs. This photo has always been a topic of delight among Oasis fans, such as the globe in the upper right corner symbolizing Oasis's ambition to conquer rock fans worldwide, and the cigarettes and wine on the left and right sides respectively, representing the album's hit song "Cigarettes & Alcohol" and so on.

To celebrate the 30th anniversary of their debut album Definitely Maybe, Sony Music held a grand Oasis exhibition "Live Forever: Oasis 30th Anniversary Exhibition" at the Roppongi Museum in Japan. It was a thrilling display that gave fans goosebumps. The purpose of recreating the most rock 'n' roll living room with the App FavoriteSpace is to invite a wide range of Oasis fans to create their virtual avatars, and invite four of your concert-going friends to pose in the living room just like Oasis did back in the day. Plus, you even have a chance to win a signed Manchester jersey from Oasis's own Noel Gallagher. Exciting, isn't it?

If you happen to be in Tokyo this November and you're an Oasis fan, remember to visit the Roppongi Museum on my behalf. Take a photo in the immersive living room of Definitely Maybe, and maybe bring home a Manchester jersey!
