I Took the VIVE Eagle to Seoul for Charli XCX — A First-Person View of Brat Summer’s Finale

Remember last summer when everyone around you was sporting neon green backgrounds with slightly blurry names in Arial font? Yep, that was the Brat Summer trend kicked off by Charli XCX! A year later, it's not just Facebook memories reminding us of it—Brat Summer has finally made its way to Asia!

On August 15th, Charli XCX headlined the first day of the One Universe Festival in Seoul, South Korea, which coincidentally was the day after the VIVE Eagle AI Smart Glasses were launched. Being in the right place at the right time, I got my hands on a test unit and took it with me to South Korea. I discovered that capturing first-person POV with these AI glasses not only frees up your hands but also makes for some truly stunning visual records!

Need location info? Just ask VIVE Eagle

Let's rewind a bit. About two months ago, a friend who's a die-hard Charli fan spotted a familiar silhouette in the official teaser for the One Universe Festival and was ready to buy tickets. We were worried it might be someone else, but thankfully, it was confirmed to be Charli XCX, performing for a full hour!

Can you really tell it's Charli from this?

Our trip to South Korea was super laid-back, with the sole purpose of seeing Charli XCX. We planned to head to the venue, "Seoul Grand Park Parking Lot," in the evening and spent the afternoon wandering around Seongsu. The sun was blazing, so I put on my VIVE Eagle, which doubles as sunglasses. I must say, these AI glasses work great as shades.

While strolling down Seongsu Road, I casually asked, "Hey, VIVE, where am I now?" The VIVE Eagle promptly responded with my location: 273-50 Seongsu-dong 2-ga, Seongdong-gu, Seoul, South Korea. No need to pull out my phone—super handy!

Passing by a store, I directed my gaze at the entrance and asked, "Hey VIVE, what's this store in front of me?" The VIVE Eagle quickly answered. Although the response was brief, it matched my simple question. Considering the VIVE Eagle's quick replies, it's a decent way to get information on the fly.

It's worth mentioning that these Q&A interactions are saved in the VIVE Connect app, making them a part of your travel log. For those who like to journal, it's a nice bonus.

By the time we reached the venue, it was almost 6 PM, but the sun was still shining bright. I casually snapped photos with the VIVE Eagle. From leaving at around 1 PM to now, with light use—about 10 photos, 3 videos, and 4-5 AI queries—the battery was still at around 70%. The battery life exceeded my expectations!

VIVE Eagle's photo quality is impressive even under the bright sun.

Capture What You See in First Person — Right in the Moment

My friend and I quickly made our way to the main stage, ready to welcome Charli. Although we had three and a half hours to go, and some time before the next performer, BIBI, we killed time by playing Charli's "Brat" on the VIVE Eagle and practicing the "Apple" dance. This pair of AI glasses, doubling as a camera and music player, is incredibly convenient.

After standing through BIBI and the ALLDAY PROJECT—and discovering their air-conditioned portable toilets—I finally got to see Charli XCX at 9:30 PM, the highlight of my South Korea trip!

Even without the neon green curtain opening seen in her European tour and at Spain's Primavera Sound, the moment Charli XCX's name appeared on the big screen, everyone was transported back to the Brat Summer craze.

I wore the VIVE Eagle for the entire hour-long performance. While everyone else was switching their gaze between their phones and the stage, I wasn’t distracted — I was fully there. No need to choose between watching the phone or the stage, and the first-person experience captured by the VIVE Eagle was a unique joy. And when I watched it back later, it pulled me right into the moment again.

Besides "Brat," Charli performed fan favorites like "Vroom Vroom," "Speed Drive" from the Barbie movie, and ended with the iconic "I Love It." Charli's stage presence is powerful, interacting mostly with the on-stage cameras. She knows how to perform for the camera, using the big screen to amplify her performance, creating a nightclub-like visual and auditory experience with her signature Hyperpop style.

After the show, I checked the VIVE Eagle's battery. It was around 60% before the 9:30 PM start, and after recording about 15 videos ranging from 30 seconds to 1.5 minutes, it dropped to 12%. Recording does drain the battery, with the official recording time set at 3 minutes, extendable to 10 minutes. But you have to balance battery life and recording time. Fortunately, the VIVE Eagle can be used while charging, so no need to worry about running out of battery in critical moments.

Back at the hotel, watching the videos captured by the VIVE Eagle, I recalled Charli mentioning during one of the few talking moments that this Seoul night was the last Brat Summer performance. This South Korea trip was worth every penny. From navigation and store recognition to hands-free first-person recording, with conversations and images saved in the app as a travel log, the VIVE Eagle's convenience exceeded my expectations.

Putting on the AI glasses isn’t just about recording; it’s about presence.
