Do you remember the mosquito trapped in amber in "Jurassic Park"? I always thought that to bring back dinosaurs, we would need a perfectly preserved mosquito that had dinosaur blood still in its system. This fantasy has become a reality thanks to VR technology! The exhibition Life Chronicles, currently being held at the Muséum national d’histoire naturelle in France until June 16th next year, is a multiplayer VR experience created by Excurio, the same team behind the popular VR experiences "Horizon of Khufu" and "Eternal Notre-Dame." It allows visitors to step into the museum and travel back 3.5 billion years to meet living dinosaurs!
The entrance to this journey through time and space is located in the "Gallery of Mineralogy and Geology" at the Muséum national d’histoire naturelle in France. Visitors simply need to put on the VIVE Focus 3 headset and walk through a long corridor to be transported to the moment life began on Earth - 3.5 billion years ago. From the Cambrian period to the Cretaceous period, visitors can swim in the vast ocean alongside amazing creatures like trilobites and Anomalocaris, and come face to face with dinosaurs in the jungle! Of course, this experience is even better when shared with others. Excurio has also utilized HTC VIVE's location-based entertainment service specially designed for the Focus 3 headset, allowing multiple people to enjoy the exhibition together and travel through time and space as a group.

In addition to enjoying the breathtaking scenery with friends, visitors on this journey will also be accompanied by a guide, a researcher, and a robot that resembles a Polaroid camera. They will explore prehistoric Earth and interact with extinct creatures, making the adventure more vivid and interesting! This VR journey through time will let visitors experience a period of 3.5 billion years compressed into a 45-minute immersive experience-- that's almost 80 million years per minute. The production team has taken great care to ensure scientific accuracy, in addition to the content written by the scientific committee of the Muséum national d’histoire naturelle and the VR experience produced by Excurio, this exhibition was also produced in collaboration with scholars from the Centre de recherche en paléontologie – Paris to accurately showcase the environments and organisms of different eras based on scientific facts. Scenes are meticulously crafted to resemble the ecological conditions of the time, and even the sound effects have been carefully designed to create an immersive experience.Dinosaurs are right in front of you! Speaking of VR exhibitions in Paris, we'd be remiss if we didn't mention Van Gogh's Palette in Musée d'Orsay which our editor also went and experienced earlier this month. If you are in Paris or planning to visit, don't miss the opportunity to travel back to the prehistoric era to see dinosaurs, and also consider adding an art history journey to your itinerary. Don't miss the annual exhibition at the Musée d'Orsay and experience walking through the final moments with the great artist Van Gogh using VR!
