Do you remember the VR game "Kayak VR: Mirage" that allows you to explore amazing vistas from around the world? If you are an XR Elite user, this popular kayaking game has just announced a special Christmas edition update! The developer Better Than Life has added snow to King's Canyon, and you can even unlock a Santa Hat in the shop to enjoy a festive holiday ambiance for Christmas in Australia!

"Kayak VR: Mirage" is a VR game that simulates kayaking

Both the visuals and the haptic feedback in this game developed by Better Than Life are of high quality, combining beautiful scenery with precise physics simulations. The experience is extremely realistic, and the titles has received positive reviews when it was released last year. However, although Better Than Life has released a limited-time Christmas experience (playable until January 17th), they also revealed in their update post that the development of "Kayak VR: Mirage" has put considerable pressure on their small team of only three people.

In the statement, they mentioned that the development process of any game is stressful, and that developing for the calming and relaxing "Kayak VR" experience is no exception. Especially after the recent release of the PSVR2 version, the pressure has been overwhelming. "As much as we wanted to keep firing through at the same speed we had been, we are at the core still very mortal. We’ve gotten things mostly back on the rails now, but this year has not been as productive as we would have liked it to be."

They further explained that the team has been trying to port the game to Unreal Engine 5, and work on users most requested features from the roadmap and a new environment. "Thank you for all your support and feedback, it has not gone unnoticed and we’re working our butts off to reward that support and patience!"

Let's all support this amazing indie team!
