Nothing's in my cart
3-minute read
At the beginning of last year, the well-known VR module developer Praydog made a bold statement, intending to release an open-source universal VR module tool. They also released a 10-minute high-quality VR version of "Hogwarts Legacy" as a demonstration, opening the door for players to explore the fantasy world in immersive VR. Now the ambition of UEVR has grown even larger, aiming to revitalize over 11,000 games developed with Unreal Engine in virtual reality, providing players with unprecedented immersive VR experiences.
UEVR is not just a mod, but a free and open-source VR tool/framework that allows people without programming skills to easily transform and run games developed with Unreal Engine 4 and 5 into 6DOF VR experiences through a visual, code-free GUI interface. UEVR offers a wealth of customization options, allowing players to adjust game controls and experiences themselves; it can even be used to add features that were not originally in the game, making the game not just a VR port, but a true Unreal Engine VR game designed for immersive VR.
Most importantly, UEVR supports most of the common VR headsets on the market, including HTC VIVE, Oculus Quest 2, Meta Quest Pro, Valve Index, and more.
So far, the team has tested nearly 700 games (and the number is likely to continue to grow), and have very thoughtfully created a very detailed list, rating the playability of the tested games running in VR, and detailing the scope of support. Everyone can check the list to see if the open source VR games they want to play are included. Below is a brief list of some entry-level games recommended by the developers:
