VIVE Full Face Tracker Now Supports VRChat (Standalone VR Version) for Eye and Facial Tracking

3-minute read

We're thrilled to announce that VIVE Full Face Tracker is now fully supported in VRChat's Standalone VR version, following the VIVE XR Elite’s FOTA 7.1 update - opening up a host of immersive possibilities for users.

VRChat has long been a popular platform for social interaction and creative expression in virtual reality. With the integration of VIVE Full Face Tracker support, users can now experience enhanced realism and immersion in their virtual adventures. From expressive facial expressions to accurate eye movements, the possibilities for creating lifelike avatars are endless.

Step to open the eye and facial tracking feature in VRChat with VIVE XR Elite

  1. Equip the VIVE Full Face Tracker on your VIVE XR Elite
  2. Complete the eye-tracking calibration.
  3. Enter VRChat (Standalone), then enable OSC .
  4. Use the avatars that support eye and facial tracking.
  5. Enjoy!

But what types of avatars are compatible with VIVE Full Face Tracker's eye and facial tracking capabilities? To make the most of these features, it's important to ensure that your avatar supports VRCFT  (VRCFaceTracking) . VRChat provides documentation for VRCFaceTracking avatar implementation. Includes Shape and Parameter references, accessible at VRChat Avatar References. While many of VRChat's default characters near the mirror are equipped for eye tracking, they may only feature synchronized blinking due to initial avatar design limitations.

For more comprehensive face and mouth tracking, VRChat recommends using avatars like Lunar Lizzy, a default character freely available within VRChat's platform. A list of free avatars compatible with eye and facial tracking can be found here.

With the VIVE Full Face Tracker and VRChat Standalone VR version, users can dive deeper into virtual worlds, connect with others in more meaningful ways, and experience VR like never before. Don't miss out on this exciting advancement in virtual reality technology!
