Nothing's in my cart

"VR Sleep" or sleeping in virtual reality, is a growing trend in communities such as VRChat. This sleep method allows users to doze off in VR while wearing thier headsets, offering the possibilities of resting in different environments and even falling asleep alongside friends. Although studies have shown that group sleep in VR can alleviate feelings of loneliness, sleeping with a headset is not exactly "ergonomic." Many wake up with a stiff neck, and there are even reports of people developing indentations at the back of their heads from prolonged headset use. (Shocking!)

To address this issue, Japanese VR accessory startup ROOX has launched a crowdfunding campaign for a VR-specific sleeping pillow called the VR Sweet Dream Pillow (tentative translation, ぶいすいーと). The product aims to solve the annoying problem of finding a comfortable position while wearing a head-mounted device, whether lying on your back or side.

The VR Sweet Dream Pillow features a central indentation designed to accommodate various headset straps, effectively distributing head pressure to reduce discomfort. The sides are enhanced with triangular soft pads that not only support the head but also prevent the device from shifting or pressing on the head, accommodating different sleeping positions. For those who toss and turn in their sleep, the pads are detachable for more freedom of movement.

The pillow is filled with noiseless material to ensure that it doesn't interfere with microphone pickup. The filling consists of small beads that can be added or removed to adjust the pillow's height to the user's preference. The outer layer is made of breathable mesh fabric, enhancing skin-friendliness and reducing heat buildup, while also prioritizing comfort, quietness, and customization.

The VR Sweet Dream Pillow has exceeded expectations on the crowdfunding platform, reaching 500% of its target amount within 100 hours. This success indicates that the product will definitely go into production and is expected to be delivered by July 2024. During the crowdfunding phase, the pillow is available at a special discount price of 12,600 Japanese yen (regular price is 16,800 yen).
