HTC VIVE Expands Commitment to Location-Based VR Ecosystem at IAAPA 2023 with Partner Showcases

5 minutes read

The location-based entertainment (LBE) market continues to grow, and is projected to reach USD 11.8 billion by 2028 according to a recent study from MarketsandMarkets. Industry pioneer HTC VIVE is now expanding its market leadership at the largest amusement conference in the world, IAAPA, with insights into the amazing arcade experiences from its partners and a showcase of HTC’s VR headsets and accessories.

For the first time, HTC VIVE will exhibit at IAAPA, the “International Association of Amusement Parks and Attractions”, November 14-17 in Orlando, Florida. The exhibit will feature the VIVE Theater where HTC will showcase a range of third-party solutions from its partners, as well as a full slate of educational programs geared towards operators in the LBE space.

“This is an exciting time for the VR arcade industry. We’re seeing a lot of post-pandemic interest and growth that we’re uniquely positioned to drive,” said Dan O'Brien, GM Americas at HTC VIVE. “Since we launched the Focus 3 headset in 2021, we’ve kept building on our foundation with accessories like the VIVE Wrist Tracker and our LBSS software suite. The result is that arcade operators now have a seamless, turnkey solution that minimizes operational requirements and maximizes customer throughput and enjoyment.”

HTC’s VIVE Focus 3 headset has become the de facto standard for location-based virtual reality experiences. Released in 2021, the Focus 3 has been adopted by many of the leading LBE suppliers like Zero Latency, Sandbox VR, Hologate, and more for its robust design, ease of use, and top-shelf performance.

For the event, HTC is partnering with leading LBE virtual reality expert Bob Cooney, who will act as organizer, host, and emcee of the VIVE Theater. Cooney will moderate conversations with leading innovators and operators of location-based VR attractions from around the world.

“HTC’s VIVE Focus 3 headset has become the industry standard, because it’s perfectly fit for use in location-based entertainment,” said Cooney. “Because of its durability, flexibility, and HTC’s robust suite of software and services tailored specifically for LBE, it’s the only headset I recommend at this point. I’m thrilled that I can help showcase some of the latest innovations from HTC’s vast network of solution partners at IAAPA this year.”

HTC’s partners will also highlight innovative location-based technology solutions during the IAAPA show. Vicon, leading provider of motion capture ecosystems, will showcase its new markerless tracking solution, enabling immersive full-body tracking in premium free-roam attractions. Striker will demonstrate their new Mavrik-Pro rifle peripheral, giving game developers unlimited freedom to create in-game weapons for ultimate player immersion. Award-winning artist Philip Noyed will showcase his Neo Art Space, an awe-inspiring immersive VR light art adventure experience in the middle of outer space. Inowize will showcase a unique use of VIVE’s tracking and controller technology, which play a big role in their new unattended attraction, QBIX. The system also incorporates thrilling 5D effects, including a motion floor and wind blasts, all of which take up to six players in immersive and social gaming experiences.
