To mark the 150th anniversary of the legendary Palais Garnier, the Opéra National de Paris has partnered with VIVE Arts and award-winning Parisian studio BackLight to present La Magie Opéra - a multi-user, location-based virtual reality experience that invites visitors to enjoy the Paris Opera in an entirely new way.
Visitors are guided by a young singer named Céleste as she journeys through dreamlike environments inspired by iconic operas such as Rusalka, Tosca, and Carmen. These scenes unfold within richly detailed, immersive spaces that blur the boundaries between memory, imagination, and performance.
Blending Culture with Immersive Technology
La Magie Opéra uses VIVE Focus 3, which excels in multi-user environments, and is powered by our award–winning Location-Based Software Suite (LBSS). The experience enables intuitive interaction, high-fidelity visuals, and real-time multi-user collaboration - all delivered wirelessly and with complete freedom of movement.
The creative vision behind La Magie Opéra reflects the shared mission of the project’s collaborators: to preserve cultural heritage while exploring new modes of artistic expression through immersive technology. By blending the timeless beauty of opera with XR, the experience opens fresh ways of engaging with one of the world’s most treasured institutions.
