La Magie Opéra, the acclaimed multi-user virtual reality experience from BackLight, in co-production with the Opéra National de Paris and VIVE Arts, is part of the official selection at the Venice Film Festival’s Venice Immersive program - one of the world’s most prestigious showcases for XR storytelling.
We’ve been fortunate to collaborate with BackLight for many years, and we’re thrilled to support its latest work at one of the most celebrated showcases for immersive storytelling. Earlier this year, La Magie Opéra premiered at the iconic Palais Garnier, as part of the theatre’s 150th anniversary celebrations.
Showcasing at Venice Immersive
Venice Immersive is a dedicated section of the Venice Film Festival, spotlighting the very best in virtual and augmented reality storytelling. As Backlight’s technology partner, HTC VIVE is helping bring La Magie Opéra to life at the festival with the VIVE Focus Vision headset, purpose-built for high turnover, multi-user scenarios, delivering a premium location-based VR experience for attendees in Venice.
A Journey Through the Magic of Opera
La Magie Opéra invites audiences on a multi-user, immersive journey through dreamlike scenes inspired by three legendary operas: Rusalka by Antonín Dvořák, Tosca by Giacomo Puccini, and Carmen by Georges Bizet.
Set within the architectural splendor of the Palais Garnier, the experience blends grand operatic moments with imaginative virtual environments, offering visitors a completely new way to explore one of Paris’s most celebrated cultural landmarks.
